Barley Tea Benefits
Although being addicted to anything isn’t great, barley tea is actually really healthy (so I guess it's not that bad to drink 8 cups a day, right?). It is known to:
1) Improves Blood Circulation
Japanese researchers working for the Kagome Company found that the fluidity of blood increased directly in proportion with alkylpyridine, a substance that gives the tea flavour. Another study published in an article The Journal of Nutritional Science and Vitaminology found that human subjects that drank 8 and a half ounces of barley tea had better blood circulation.
2) Be Antibacterial
Italian researchers mimicked tooth enamel to bacteria and the tea in various combinations and ratios, discovering that the tea prevented bacterial colonization and adhesion.
3) Be Antioxidant
A team of Japanese researchers from Shizuka University analyzed the chemical components of barley tea and their effects on peroxynitrite, an unstable chemical that can lead to death and health complications. The research determined the presence of 10 chemicals in the tea that were able to scavenge or destroy the peroxynitrite.
Super Easy Barley Tea Recipe
Barley tea is honestly the easiest thing to make and takes only 10 mins!
Ingredients
- ¼ cup of roasted barley
- 1 1/2 pints of water
- honey and lemon, can be added to help soothe a sore throat and/or add more flavor (optional)
Directions
Put the roasted barley and water in a pot and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and let it shimmer for 6 minutes (with the lid on)
Strain the water so you don't accidentally drink the barley seeds (cuz they be nasty, well unless you like the taste of them, but I doubt anyone would)
Add the honey or/and lemon if you want to.
Drink!!!
After I finish making the tea I personally like putting it in the fridge for a couple minutes so when I drink it it’s cold, but you do you.
Anyways thanks for sticking around and comment what drink/food you're addicted to!
