July is National Anti-Boredom month and it’s also the first month of summer break!!Yay!!
So obviously because it’s summer break, it would be so easy following this month's theme, right?
WRONG. Well for me at least. You don’t know how many countless hours I’ve spent staring at my phone hoping that maybe this time, just this 154th time I refresh my feed something interesting would pop up. Well, after being a blob on the ground for the past couple weeks I decided that I would not be a blob anymore and actually have fun this summer. So these are 5 activities that I’ll definitely attend/try and you should too that take place in Toronto. And even if you don’t here, I'm sure you could find places near you that also host these.
1) Watch a movie under the stars: Everyone loves a good movie, but watching a film sprawled on a blanket under the stars is just so much better, but you know what’s even better than that? All of that and it being free. some of the places that host these movies are Yonge Dundas Square, Harbourfront, Open Roof Festival and a bunch of other locations throughout the city.
2) Take a hike: Toronto may seem like a busy city with concrete pavements and cars everywhere, but there are a ton of trails too!! You just gotta know where to look and you could find yourself a mini paradise.
3) Attend an EDM music festival: The Veld Festival is happening at Downsview Park from August 1-2. Some of the performers include Deadmau5, KASKADE, Hardwell, Above and Beyond and more.
4) Attend another Festival!!: If you like festivals, but EDM isn’t your thing, check out the summerworks festival, an annual celebration of live performances art from August 8-18.
5) Flea market, anyone?: There are a ton of flea markets in Toronto and the great thing is most of these places have free admission! Some of them are The Junction Flea, Leslieville Flea, Gladstone Flea, Parkdale Flea, Toronto Weston Flea Market and more.
Well, I hoped that helped or at least inspired you to stop being a blob on the ground and stop being anti-bored…..you get what I’m trying to say.
